Sweet and tangy bbq sauce

As far as we are concerned, the best barbecue sauce is the sauce you’ve made yourself. You can make it exactly how you want, and you can brag about it if everyone likes it. This recipe is the bbq sauce that we like best. It’s tangy with a sweet aftertaste and just enough heat to make it well balanced.

This sauce can be used on everything but is especially tasty on spareribs and chicken. If you like bbq sauce, then you probably know how you are going to use it.

If you like it sweet, add a little more sugar. If it is not tangy enough, you will use more vinegar. Do you want it hotter? Then you probably have a bottle of hot sauce in the cupboard to spice up the sauce. But first, try it as we intended. You might like it very much.

Ingredients

  • half a litre of ketchup
  • 200 ml apple cider vinegar
  • 4 tbsp syrup
  • 2 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
  • 2 tbsp cane sugar
  • 1 tbsp mild mustard
  • 1 tsp chilli flakes
  • 1 tsp garlic granulate
  • 1/2 tsp cayenne pepper

Instructions

  1. Pour everything into a saucepan and bring to a gentle simmer until the sugar has dissolved. When the sauce sticks to the back of a spoon, you can remove the pan from the heat. Do not overcook it, or the sauce will be too thick when it cools down
